We had originally planned to take the morning off to rest and return to Beijing in the afternoon, but I got up at 4 am and traveled to Shanghai where I could catch a 6 o’clock flight back to Beijing to attend my English lesson at Peking University. When I walked into the classroom looking as if I had not slept a wink, the teacher and my classmates gave me a standing ovation. I started to have presbyopia earlier than I should have because of my English studies. One of the reasons for this was that the type in the English books was too small and I used to joke that “all our English dictionaries and reference books were made for young people, the text is so small; it would be strange if I did not have presbyopia!
